What does a roofing warranty do?

A roofing warranty is a guarantee from the manufacturer and installer that your roof will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a specified period. If any issues arise due to manufacturing flaws or improper installation, the warranty will cover the costs of repairing or replacing the affected materials. This protection gives homeowners valuable assurance about the quality and longevity of their new roof.

Our Owens Corning-backed roofing warranties

Covers the workmanship of solar mount and flashing installation on your roof, including removal and reinstallation of the solar panels if needed, provided that a qualified contractor installed them using approved components according to Owns Corning's guidelines.

What the Warranty Covers

Depending on the warranty chosen, you receive up to 50 years of coverage depending on which warranty is bought and only few select Owens Corning contractors and GAF contractors can offer.

Workmanship

It provides roofing workmanship warranty coverage for the installation of solar mounts and flashing,

Removal & Reinstallation

The warranty can cover the cost of removing and reinstalling your solar panels to service a roof warranty claim.

Roof System Protection

It safeguards the roof system against leaks or other issues caused by installation defects.

Preferred warranty

The Preferred warranty is an excellent choice for exceptional coverage at a great value. Like the Platinum Warranty, it offers full coverage for any manufacturing defects in Owens Corning roofing components and materials, including labor costs. Additionally, it protects against workmanship issues for 10 years from the date of installation.

What's Covered

Material Defects:
Covers manufacturing defects in Owens Corning shingles and other system components (underlayment, ventilation, etc.) for a 50-year-non-prorated period, including labor, tear-off, and disposal costs.

Workmanship Defects:
Provides 10 years of coverage for errors made by the certified installer, covering the costs to repair or replace the affected parts of the roof system.

What's Not Covered

Non-Owens Concerning Products:
The warranty does not cover components not manufactured by Owens Corning, such as wood decking, flashing, fasteners, or pipe boots.

Prorated Period:
after the initial 50-year protection period, any claims are handled under a prorated basis, meaning a reduced amount of compensation is given.  

Eligibility Requirements

Certified Contractor:
The roof installation must be performed by a certified Owens Corning contractor.

System warranty

The System Warranty provides robust coverage for manufacturing defects in Owens Corning roofing products, including labor costs for repairs or replacements as needed. While it does not extend to workmanship issues, this warranty helps ensure your roofing materials will perform as expected for years after installation.

What is covered:

Manufacturing Defects:
The warranty covers defects in the Owens Corning roofing products that are part of the complete products.

Labor and Materials:
During the TRU PROtection Period, the warranty typically covers the cost of labor and replacement materials needed to repair or replace defective shingles.

Tear-Off and Disposal:
Some premium warranties, like the Preferred Protection, also cover the cost to remove and dispose of the defective shingles.

Standard warranty

For essential protection, the Standard Warranty covers any manufacturing defects in Owens Corning roofing materials for the first 5 years at 100% indemnification, prorating annually after that period. It also includes labor costs to repair or replace defective components during the non-prorated coverage term.
